To begin with, I’d like to say that a lot of students dream of studying abroad for at least half a year. I’m not an exception. Luckily, I had a chance to take part in the  Erasmus+ Exchange Programme. I can say that it was a great  life experience that I will never forget.

Currently I’m studying in Poland and I joined the Erasmus+ Exchange  Programme in February, 2019 when taking studies in Tallinn. Not only it was an opportunity to gain knowledge, but also to learn a lot about the country and to increase the awareness of its culture. From the first days spent in Tallinn I wanted to know more about the locals and their way of life in order to understand their everyday habits.

At first, it was a bit scary for me because all my friends and family were far away. Fortunately, my old friend who had been living there for three years helped me during my stay. With time, I made friends with other students from the university and we spent great time together throughout the period of my studies.

Naturally, I worked hard as it was interesting to study something different from what I studied at UJK. Moreover, I improved my English as there was no other way to communicate.

To tell the truth, I enjoyed living in Tallinn, but I wasn’t thrilled with the weather as it was cold, even in spring. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted with stories about Estonian culture. Someone even made fun of their own mentality and laxity. Estonian people seem to be restrained and unemotional, however, they can be open and joyful, which was evident during little parties we had together.

Immediately upon the arrival I began to get into the flow  of the city life, so in my free time I visited it and admired its sights. Tallinn is a city full of contrasts, quite touristy, but generally comfortable for everyday life. Below are some photos.

Sometimes I had lunches in cafes or restaurants, so I can say that Estonian cuisine is tasty.

In conclusion, I want to say that taking part in an Erasmus+ Exchange Programme has made me more self-reflective and helped me get to know myself better. As I lived in another country, I faced various challenges and difficulties I have never met before  which helped me to realize who I am. Moreover, I want to say that I came back a  different  person as I grew up during living in another country.
